Maritime Housing Association
Sept – Oct 1996
London Road Mural representing the various states of construction of the Anglican Cathedral. The Mural which measures 35’ x 40’ was created in response to a commissioned piece for Maritime Housing. The theme was to reflect the current aspirations and forward thinking of the City. Practical considerations involved a treatment that was both dynamic and sympathetic to the environment of the flats and shops that make up the surrounding area.

Liverpool Museum - William Brown Street
March 1997
The brief involved working closely with the taxidermy department at Liverpool Museum to create a background scene measuring 60’ x 14’. The aim of the diorama was to produce a convincing illusion of an African savannah grassland that would create an affinity of location with the specimens.

Queen Street Mural commission. The project involved working closely with unemployed homeless young people as well as local schools and youth groups. Duration10-weeks. Format 110’ x 12’

Whalsay Island - Symbister High School
Sept - Oct 1998
A commission to paint a mural based upon the islands culture and peoples. The mural is situated in a school stair well measuring 35’ x 32’. The mural depicts the social traditions which are a part of the distinct character of the Islands, a tradition and way of life that is fast disappearing.

Groundwork Liverpool - Albion Youth Club, Everton Brow
Feb - March 2000
To create a mural and a sculpture in the grounds of a reclaimed brown field site, which is situated on Everton Brow. The aim was to create a kinetic sculpture that was wind powered and to paint a mural that reflected the area’s heritage. Mural4.8m x 2.2

Steve des Landes was commissioned to consult the steering group in conjunction with Wirral Borough Engineers and Councillors to advise upon and develop a strategy for the inclusion of Public Art within the Borough.

Groundwork Trust, St.Helens - Ashtons Green Sculpture Commission
January - February 2001
The brief was to create five sculptural pathway markers involving five local schools from the immediate area. Each marker was created by found objects from the site which were then cast into resin to create a seven foot high column each column marked the entrance to a reclaimed spoil tip.

Groundwork Trust - St.Helens Eco House Cement City

The brief involved working across a diverse range of disciplines to create three sculptural art works and three murals representing a fresh and innovative approach to deliver an energy and efficiency brief to schools and the wider community. The house is a drop in exhibition centre for local schools and the community as part of a council initiative to save energy and promote a healthy lifestyle.

This was a project lasting two weeks working with the Newtown boys and girls youth club as part of the towns program for regeneration of the town centre.

Reception based Sculptural Installation.
To create an installation which involved casting the faces and hands of 45 school children into 14 curved resin panels, lit by ultra violet light at night to create a living wall to commemorate the opening of Maritime Housings new Head Office.

The principle aim of this mural project was to involve the young people from the Solar Campus, which is a special high teacher pupil ratio unit for excluded children. The Mural is situated in an area of high crime where the environment is subject to constant graffiti. [Dimensions 60’x12’]

To develop an installation that was engaging and thought provoking for the commuters and shoppers that use two busy underpasses.
We created 14 steel encased illuminated resin features that reflected and echoed the aspirations of the Black and Asian youth groups within the area.

A series of six large paintings depicting the heritage of the Cromarty Firth,
which have been sited on the town’s museum façade overlooking the Firth.

Groundwork Wirral - Woodchurch Estate Wirral – Community Artwork Project

We took the unusual approach and decided to print onto polycarbonate the artwork and images produced by the children, residents and groups of youths on the estate to create an exciting mural that will truly reflect the local community.
Groundwork Environmental Improvement Project - Dukesfield Runcorn

A combined Mural and laser cut steel signage project with a series of workshops with the local residents and the practical involvement of local youngsters in painting the mural.

The project included a 4m high sculptural artwork that is lit using solar power
and an entrance mural for a Sure Start Children’s centre.
